Training in First Aid could turn out to be the most important course you take in your life. This is because the knowledge of first aid empowers you to respond to medical emergencies with confidence and offer medical assistance that could turn out to be lifesaving.
Accidents happen without warning and your expertise in first aid will allow you to offer medical assistance to the victims of an accident in a calm and assured manner. We need first aid skills in our homes, at our workplaces, in social events and outdoor gatherings and our courses will provide you with all the information that you need to respond effectively to medical emergencies. Our training program includes practical and theoretical work that aims to teach learners how to respond to different medical emergencies. The training covers topics that will help individuals become competent first aiders such as;
The roles and responsibilities of a first aider.
How to assess an accident.
Understanding the signs and symptoms of different illnesses and injuries.
Administering CPR level C (infant, child, adult and 2-person CPR).
How to use an AED.
How to assist a victim with serious injuries and illnesses such as spine, head, and chest injuries.
Through practical demonstrations and other classroom-based techniques, individuals are taught how to deal with the situations mentioned above. Learners are taught how to place victims in the recovery position as well as how to conduct abdominal thrusts and back blows effectively.
Students also gain knowledge on how to deal with burned, choking, and bleeding casualties. The training also touches issues such as strokes, seizures, heart attacks, and poisons.
Training and Evaluation
We are one of Canadian Red Cross’ top training partners in Canada. We are also an affiliate of the Lifesaving Society and as such, our instructors are well-trained, qualified and certified to offer first aid and CPR training. We can tailor our training program to suit the composition of the class and this can be arranged with those attending the course.
The instructors appraise the learners during the program so as to make sure that they get all the information and knowledge that is being passed across. Learners have to demonstrate that they can administer first aid, perform CPR and use an AED before they can be certified as first aiders.
Certification
Upon completion of the training program, learners get training certificates as competent first aiders. Our 3-year certificate is recognized by all employers and it includes:
Students are expected to apply for re-certification just once before the expiry.
Who Should Apply for This Course?
Anyone who wishes to learn how to respond to medical emergency appropriately should sign up for this course and this includes parents, teachers, lifeguards, employers and employees in small, medium and large enterprises, camp counselors, trades, daycare providers and basically those without first aid training.
