What is Online Blended-learning Course?

A blended learning course combines the benefits of combining both online training and in-person / in-class training into one course.

The Red Cross blended (online/in-class) courses offered are for both the Standard First Aid Full Certification and Recertifications. These blended (online/in-class) courses are taken in place of the in-class Standard First Aid Certification and Recertification courses.

For example, the in-class Standard First Aid, w/CPR with AED (full cert) course is a 2-day instructor-led class.  Should you take a BLENDED Standard First Course (full cert) instead, you would 1) first complete the online portion of the course AND THEN 2) only spend 1 day in an instructor-led classroom.

NOTE: The Blended first aid / CPR course is taken in place of full in-class equivalent first aid / CPR class.  The certificates issued is the same!

How a Blended First Aid Course Registration and Course Completion Works?
  1. First you register online for the  BLENDED first aid course with us and select an in-class date for the course. (Date, Time and Location)
  2. Within 2 business days, you will receive an email from the Red Cross to register/sign-in to your account and you will be invited to begin the online portion of your First Aid and CPR course.
  3. You will complete the online portion of your course, on the Red Cross site/portal. This online course will be done on your computer at your own pace. This course will cover theoretical information and include a knowledge evaluation/test.  ** This portion of the course needs to be successfully completed BEFORE attending the in-class portion of the course.
  4. Lastly, you will then attend your REGISTERED in-class instructor-led portion of the course. The class covers skills development, practice sessions, with knowledge evaluations. The in-class skills session is led by a Certified Red-Cross instructor with SOS First Aid.

In order to obtain a SFA certificate with a BLENDED course, the in-class portion portion of the course must be completed within 90 days of successfully completing the online portion of the course. SOS First Aid offers first aid courses that service the communities of Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek and St. Catherines.
