“I truly believe that anyone can be ready to handle almost any emergency situation, when they learn life-saving techniques taught by experienced, engaging, and qualified instructors.”
– Velma Ganassini, Founder, SOS First Aid
SOS First Aid & Safety Training is the Greater Toronto Area’s first choice for innovative, engaging safety programs geared to help anyone prepare for almost any life-or-death situation.
Founder Velma Ganassini developed her love for safety training early on, while she was working as a swimming pool instructor. With a vision of opening her own training facility, she went on to earn credentials as a Canadian Red Cross Instructor Trainer, Canadian Red Cross First Aid and Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor/Examiner (first aid and swim), The Lifesaving Society Instructor/Examiner for Oxygen Administration, and Canadian Red Cross anti-bullying educator.
With these credentials and a passion to teach, Velma launched SOS First Aid & Safety Training in 2004.
By combining great customer service with quality training programs to individuals, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations, SOS First Aid has grown to offer programs in seven Greater Toronto Area communities. Each location offers safety courses taught by passionate, engaging instructors in a clean and well-maintained environment.
All SOS First Aid instructors share Velma’s passion for teaching life-saving skills, and have been highly trained in the healthcare, first responder, and safety training fields, including lifeguard and swim instruction, firefighting, nursing, paramedic, and other safety training professions. By working together to provide expert first aid training to the community, Velma’s team won Oakville’s Small Business of the Year Award in 2013, and was recognized as a top Canadian Red Cross Training Partner in Ontario. Also, the Canadian Red Cross selected SOS First Aid to provide training to its large national accounts in Halton and Peel.
