This comprehensive program combines Standard First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, delivered according to the latest Canadian Red Cross standards. Through instructor-led scenarios, hands-on skill practice, and team-based response simulations, participants develop the technical skills and clinical confidence needed to act decisively when seconds matter most.

What You’ll Learn
Primary Assessment: Rapidly assess scene safety, responsiveness, airway, breathing, and circulation to identify life-threatening conditions.
High-Quality CPR: Perform effective chest compressions and assisted ventilations for adults, children, and infants using both single-rescuer and team-based techniques.
Secondary Assessment & Vital Signs: Complete a full head-to-toe evaluation and gather vital signs to guide ongoing care.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use: Integrate AED operation into cardiac arrest response and deliver shocks safely and efficiently.
Airway Emergencies: Manage choking and airway obstructions across all age groups using evidence-based techniques.
Assisted Ventilation & BVM Use: Provide ventilations using barrier devices and bag-valve-mask systems when indicated.
Trauma Management: Provide care for wounds, burns, fractures, and suspected head or spinal injuries until advanced help arrives.
Team Response & Communication: Work effectively within a coordinated medical response, ensuring clear communication and role clarity.
Infection Control & PPE: Apply proper glove removal, PPE use, and infection-control practices in high-risk environments.
Special Considerations in BLS: Learn adjustments for unique patient populations and challenging emergency scenarios.
Additional Topics: Some courses may also address suspected opioid overdoses and key legal or ethical responsibilities of responders.
Training & Certification
This in-person, instructor-led course is delivered over approximately 14–16 hours across two days. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid with CPR BLS/AED certificate, with BLS certification valid for one year and full certification valid for three years.
The program meets CSA standards for professional responders and is delivered at a convenient Brampton location, allowing local healthcare workers and emergency personnel to train close to home without interrupting demanding schedules.
