First Aid with CPR and AED Certifications

Below is an explanation of the differences between Standard and Emergency First Aid and CPR C and AED and CPR HCP and AED.

Standard First Aid and CPR C / AED

Red Cross Standard First Aid certifications with CPR C and AED meet or exceed WSIB and health and safety requirements.  Recognized as workplace standard first aid training in Ontario, this course meets requirements for 6 or more employees working at the location. This level is also a pre-requisite for many high school SHSM programs, and college and university programs that require first aid training.  Others who may need this level are lifeguards, swim instructors, camp counsellors and anyone working with children.

Standard First Aid and CPR for healthcare providers (HCP/AED) is the accepted level for most health care practitioners in Ontario. Many college and university students complete this level to satisfy program requirements, namely personal support workers (PSW), nurses, paramedics, doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, occupational therapists and respiratory therapists.  Firefighters also frequently need this level of training.
