The course is for existing First Aid instructors who wish to become a Basic Life Support Instructor. If you are not an existing instructor, please also sign up for fundamentals of instruction which is a prerequisite for the BLS instructor course. The process to become a Red Cross basic life support instructor is as follows:
– Prerequisites are a current and valid Basic Life Support certification, Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy certification, and have completed a successful skills assessment. You must have completed fundamentals of instruction or be an existing first aid instructor with the Red Cross.
The process requires you to:
– Complete the basic life support specific instructor’s program – 16 hours
– Complete a Teaching Experience of 50% of a BLS course with an experienced instructor.
The cost to become a BLS instructor is $375/person and includes the skills assessment, all materials, the instructors course and teaching experience. Payment can be made by e-transfer or credit card at the time of registration.
