Make no mistake about it. Even though it is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the wonderful city of Mississauga, Ontario is one of the largest in Canada. In fact, with a population of over 700,000 people, Mississauga is the seventh-most populous municipality in Canada and the third largest city in Ontario.
Mississauga is a diverse, bustling town that, among many other great attributes, is home to some very prestigious educational institutions and medical facilities. Sheridan College, Mississauga Career College, Mohawk College, Lambton College and CDI College all have campuses in Mississauga. They are all helping young minds to develop their future medical careers. Also of note, The Canadian Academy of Dental Health & Community Sciences, Scholars Dental and Dental Educators have Mississauga locations for students preparing for careers in dentistry.
Many of students and student groups at these facilities and educations centers require BLS (Basic Life Supports) training for both their graduation requirement and clinical placement requirements.
Who would most benefit from basic life support training in Mississauga?
Since the city has so many medical facilities and medical students, it should probably go without saying that it’s a location where knowing Basic Life Support is a requirement. It’s important for dentists, for example, to ensure that they and their dental teams are appropriately educated, well trained and certified in performing Basic Life Support (BLS) with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Having appropriate training and equipment in place will allow a dental team to respond to all medical emergencies quickly and appropriately in their clinics.
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course offered by SOS First Aid in Mississauga covers all CPR and choking techniques for adults, children and infants. It also covers two-rescuer adult, child, and baby CPR at either the Healthcare Provider (HCP) or BLS level. The course also offers Bag-Valve-Mask training. After completion, participants will earn their Red Cross CPR Level BLS and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) recertification certificates.
