Committee members identify potential health and safety concerns and bring them to their employer’s attention, and they must also be kept informed of health and safety developments in the workplace by their employer. Preventative regular health and safety inspections are also the responsibility of the JHSC. When a safety incident occurs, committee members are involved in incident investigation and implementing safety measures to improve safety practices based on learnings from the incident. In addition to JHSC fundamental training, there is a Joint Health and Safety Committee certification (JHSC certification) available for committee members.
