Oakville’s leading entrepreneurs were recognized for their business savvy Wednesday at he 18th annual Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE).
The event, presented by the Oakville Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Rotary Club of Oakville West, attracted more than 500 people to the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre.
The awards gala, MCed by Chris Mei of The Weather Network, and an Oakville resident, marked the end of a long journey, which began with 145 Oakville business nominees that were whittled down through a rigorous qualification process until only 48 finalists remained.
Safety On Site Interactive Training Solutions (SOS First Aid) received the Small Business of the Year Award.
“(Owner) Velma (Ganassini) exemplifies the traits that characterize successful small business owners. She’s highly motivated, resourceful, caring and inquisitive,” said award presenter, Sarah Adams.
“Velma identified the need in our region for quality first aid and safety training. Through research and determination she established SOS First Aid and led the company to revenue growth of 300 per cent over the last two years.”
