A Training Partner is an independent, large or small business, community or municipal organization, corporation, or other organization that has an agreement with the Red Cross to deliver training in its community.
For over 60 years, the Canadian Red Cross has been a national leader in injury prevention programs. Over 1.5 million Canadians are trained in Red Cross First Aid and CPR, and Swimming and Water Safety programs each year through a network of licenced Training Partners across the country.
Training Partners hire highly trained Red Cross First Aid Instructors who complete an extensive certification and recertification process to keep up with the latest teaching strategies and the latest first aid and CPR science. In many cases, instructors are front-line professionals – firefighters, emergency medical responders, nurses, lifeguards – who can enhance courses through their own experience and knowledge.
The Red Cross offers a full spectrum of high quality and professional first aid, CPR and safety programs for children, youth and adults. Injury prevention is a major focus of all Red Cross programming. The aim of the Canadian Red Cross First Aid programs is to reduce death and suffering due to injury and sudden illness by training as many Canadians as possible in first aid.
User-friendly materials support the participants’ learning during the course and act as a valuable resource afterwards. They are reviewed on a regular basis to include the latest scientific research and to maintain an up-to-date look and format. All Red Cross materials are available in English and French.
Red Cross First Aid courses meet Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety regulations and are approved by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. In Ontario, Red Cross programs also meet the Workers Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) requirements for first aid Regulation 1101.
