Since 2004, the SOS First Aid team has proudly operated as a Canadian owned and operated business. Headquartered in Mississauga, we offer first aid and CPR training programs and WSIB-approved certifications all over the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) among numerous other Southern Ontario locations. They include Oakville, Hamilton, Ancaster, Brantford, Stoney Creek and St. Catharines just to name a few!
Among our many accolades are Oakville’s Small Business of the Year Award in 2013 and being named the #4 Top Canadian Red Cross Training Partner in Ontario. That puts us Top 10 in Canada, by the way! Of course, we’re proud to be growing safety in our local communities. But we’re also very proud to be Canadian.
Why is supporting Canadian businesses so important?
Consider the fact that every dollar you spend at a local business helps to keep money circulating within our communities. When you choose a Canadian-owned company, you’re directly supporting job creation, tax revenue and economic growth right here at home. This, in turn, helps fund public services like healthcare, education and infrastructure.
Keep in mind that, unlike large corporations, local businesses thrive on personal relationships. At SOS First Aid, we truly care about our students. It’s a top priority of ours to ensure that every participant receives high-quality, hands-on training in a welcoming environment. We aren’t just offering a service. We’re equipping people with lifesaving skills that can benefit their careers and communities.
How does first aid training help Canadians to get jobs?
Many people take first aid training because it is required for employment. It is especially important in such industries as healthcare, childcare, construction and hospitality. By offering WSIB-approved, Red Cross-certified first aid and CPR courses, we are directly helping Canadians meet job qualifications. We also assist professionals to advance in their careers. Not to mention, we’re making Canadian workplaces safer.
“When a medical emergency or injury does take place, whether it is to ourselves or a fellow employee, knowing what to do and being able to react quickly can limit the severity of the health scare or injury – or even prevent a death,” writes Yosie Saint-Cyr for OHS Canada Magazine, “First aid provides the initial and immediate attention to a person suffering an injury or illness. In extreme cases, a quick first-aid response could mean the difference between life and death.”
How will your support keep Canada self-sufficient?
When we rely on homegrown businesses, we reduce our dependence on international corporations. Your support ensures more stability for our workforce and economy. As affirmed by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, supporting local businesses increases jobs and supports the success of your community. It also reduces your carbon footprint because small businesses often source from local manufacturers. As well, buying Canadian contributes to innovation and competition in your area, helping to keep prices lower.
SOS First Aid isn’t just another training company. We’re a proud Canadian, locally owned and operated business that cares about the people we serve. By choosing to train with us, you’re not just learning vital lifesaving skills. You’re also contributing to the growth of Canadian businesses and supporting fellow Canadians in their careers.
