Course Overview
The Canadian Red Cross “First Aid for Dogs and Cats” online course equips pet owners and aspiring pet care professionals with essential skills to respond to common emergencies involving cats and dogs. Participants will learn how to monitor vital signs, perform CPR including choking interventions, manage wounds, handle seizures, and promote overall pet health and safety.

What You Will Learn
This course will teach you how to monitor your pet’s vital signs, including heart rate, breathing, and temperature, to detect any early warning signs of health issues. You’ll learn how to perform CPR and address choking emergencies in both dogs and cats, as well as how to manage injuries by stopping bleeding and applying bandages safely. The training also covers how to support pets during seizures and recognize when veterinary care is needed. In addition, you’ll gain practical guidance on maintaining your pet’s overall health and preparing for unexpected emergencies
Certification
Upon completing the course, participants will receive a digital certificate from the Canadian Red Cross.
